I started using Splenda 10 years ago. I switched from Aspartame (NutraSweet, Equal), because it was used in most diet sodas and I built up an intolerance to it. My symptoms were the same as taking a laxative.
Currently after a blood test, my platelet count was extremely low (73). Normal is 150 to 400.
I can't say for sure if it is the Splenda, however over the next 3 months, I will run my own experiment by not using Splenda at all. When I go for my 3 month check up and blood test, I should know for sure if Splenda played any part in my low Platelet count.

I am so allergic to STEVIA! When I accidently get a little (I mean an extremely small sprinkle) into my system- I get immediate diarrhea & dizzyness. I get the feeling it is thinning my blood. The worst part is trying to tell some of my friends that are into this Stevia hype that I cannot have it, they give me the schpeil that NO ONE can EVER be allergic to it, because it's natural. They are full of BS, be careful, I am no tthe only one extremely allergic to stevia- some people can't breath after they have it. Just google stevia allergy...

I bought 15 Lb. equivalant of Splenda from EBay before it was in the stores here.

Used it for baking...didn't bake for a while and when I took the pack down from the cabinet, opened the box, and it was full of ants...DEAD ANTS!!!

Rigfht then and there I took them away from the cooking cabinet and put them in the garage with the bug killers....just sprinkle some of it from the middle out of a red ant hill and they are gone!! I still buy a pack for red ants every year but not for me!!

Well, this is a pretty transparet attempt by the mkaers of Stevia to discredit Splenda. We have used Splenda for years, no problem at all. Tried Stevia just recently - it was the most revolting chemical fake sweetener we have ever dried - threw the rest out it made us so sick . So we will be staying with Splenda, thanks.

I have yet to figure out what is wrong with me. The doctors have run tests and find nothing. So, they said fibromyalgia. I can barely walk in the morning when I get up. The bottoms of me feet hurt all the time. My right arm is difficult to use and sometimes doesn't work. Funny thing is I don't have the normal pain "areas" of fibromyalgia. I have been a very big user (6-8 packets a day) of splenda for 4 years now. I am going to take this advice and report back in 8 weeks. I am very hopefull. Thanks to all for the advice!

I'm a nurse and nutritional advocate with my patients. I was also a former splenda user for nearly 2 years. In which time I developed severe inflammation, panic attacks, chronic pain and bloating. I worked exclusively with HIV/AIDS patients for several years and during a meeting with fellow medical professionals; we were encouraged to get all of our patients OFF SPLENDA. After several independent studies shown that Splenda reduces the effective absorption of HIV medications and were causing lower than normal immune systems and excessive weight gain with our patients. I immediately switched to STEVIA and lost 10 pounds in 2 months and ALL of my panic attacks, pain and stomach bloating disappeared. Believe me folks some of the best medical research is done on HIV patients. If something is found harmful to them is is harmful for healthy people as well.

It contains chlorine: THIS IS NOTHING TO BE AFRAID OF!!! Does anyone know the chemical formula for salt? NaCl or Sodium plus a CHLORINE molecule, are we going to start not eating any salt, NO. The extra chlorine molecules are bonded to the other molecules so it can't be removed unless a chemical process removes them. The person that said they had a pool taste was obviously experiencing mind over matter. Ever notice you are getting information on Splenda from a Stevia website? That is like asking a terrorist if terrorism is OK.I am unsure of the reliability of this but according to this MSNBC article Stevia was linked to "infertility in rats and cancer in the lab" (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30195885/ns/health-diet_and_nutrition/t/new-sweetener-not-so-sweet-your-diet/) The article also explains that their 'natural' claim is under attack because it goes through a purification process that alters Stevia chemically.

I've been on the Ideal Protein Diet since April. The products have sucralose in nearly every food.I have also been using/eatingmany products containing sucralose such as Walden Farms, sugar free gum and Altoids as well as adding lots of Splenda to coffee and drinking sugar free lattes at Starbucks. I have had bouts of dizziness for years with no apparent reason,( no high BP, not on meds)and now for the past 3 weeks have had an intense burning itchy rash that is almost invisible on my lower legs and arms.I am sure it is due to the sucralose as nothing else is new/different in my life. I have been off sucralose for one week now and overall the rash is better, less on the legs but now worse on the arms.Frankly, it's driving me nuts. I guess after years of ingesting this stuff it's going to take awhile to clear. Also, check your vitamins and liquid supplements! The liquid Co-Q10 I buy at Costco has sucralose in it! Anyone else experiencing similar rash symptoms? Any advice/ comments much appreciated.

I'm completelt allergic to Sucralose(Splenda) My mouth gets cuts, ulcers and blisters when I consume it. My tongue also gets slightly swollen. I drank coffee with Sugar Free Coffee mate for years and had these problems on and off. Since stopping the Splenda, I have had no problems. It's also in sugar-free gum too, so beware when buying!! Sucralose is Splenda!
